Grounded in construction. Built for litigation.
Airehart Construction has spent more than 25 years building high-end custom homes throughout California, and our expert witness and cost-of-reconstruction practice grew directly out of that hands-on building experience. In the aftermath of the 2018 Camp Fire, the most destructive wildfire in California history at the time, Paradise homeowners and their attorneys needed something insurance adjusters couldn't always provide: an accurate, defensible, construction-based estimate of what it would truly cost to rebuild. Brian Airehart and his team stepped in, drawing on decades of experience pricing custom residential work in California, and what began as a handful of rebuild estimates for Camp Fire survivors has since grown into a dedicated litigation support practice serving homeowners and attorneys across the state.
That experience carried forward through the Dixie Fire and Mosquito Fire, across the Pacific to Maui for the 2023 Lahaina Fire, back home for the 2024 Park Fire, and most recently into the 2025 Eaton Fire in Altadena, one of the most destructive wildfires in Los Angeles County history. With each fire, our team refined the same core approach: visit the site, understand what was lost, and build an estimate the way we'd build the home itself, line by line, trade by trade, grounded in what construction actually costs in that specific market at that specific time.
Alongside our active residential and commercial construction work, Airehart Construction continues to serve attorneys, policyholders, and adjusters across California and Hawaii, producing litigation-grade reconstruction and remediation estimates for homeowners recovering from catastrophic fire loss. Much of our caseload comes through direct referrals from attorneys who have seen our reports hold up under scrutiny, a reputation we've built one case at a time. Since the Camp Fire, we've completed more than 800 cost-of-reconstruction and remediation reports. As active, licensed builders, we bring real construction experience to every estimate we produce.

Cost of Reconstruction Estimates
Rebuilding after total loss is rarely as simple as pricing what was there before. Skilled labor shortages, material demand surges, and current code requirements, especially in the aftermath of a major regional disaster when thousands of homes compete for the same trades and materials, drive real costs well above pre-loss baselines. Homes destroyed in a wildfire must also be rebuilt to today's codes, not the codes in effect when the original home was built, often changing the scope and cost significantly. Our estimates account for these realities directly, covering the full scope of the rebuild from foundation to finishes, organized by CSI MasterFormat division.
Cost of Remediation Estimates
Not every fire-damaged property is a total loss. Specialized trades for smoke and soot mitigation, structural repair, and finish replacement are often in short supply after a major fire, and any affected systems brought back to code must meet current requirements as well. We scope and price the specific remediation work each property needs, factoring in the same labor, material, and code considerations that affect full rebuilds, organized using the same CSI MasterFormat structure.
Insurance Litigation
Wildfire is where our litigation practice began, but the same skills apply anywhere a home's rebuild or repair cost is in dispute. We provide the same cost-of-reconstruction and remediation analysis for insurance disputes involving flood, water, or other covered property loss, whether or not the case involves a law firm. Policyholders, attorneys, and adjusters rely on the same construction-based accuracy and CSI MasterFormat rigor we bring to every wildfire case. Explore Insurance Litigation →
Why Attorneys Choose Airehart Construction
-
Every estimate we produce is grounded in decades of hands-on residential construction experience, not theoretical pricing models. When an estimate is challenged in deposition or cross-examination, it holds up because it reflects how homes are actually built.
-
Our estimates are structured using CSI MasterFormat divisions, the construction industry's recognized standard, giving attorneys, adjusters, and opposing experts a clear, consistent format that's easy to follow and difficult to dispute.
-
Our reports are built to withstand scrutiny in mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial. We prepare clear, well-documented estimates and are available to support attorneys through deposition and testimony when needed.
-
As a licensed general contractor in both states, we bring the same construction-based rigor to Lahaina Fire matters as we do to California wildfire litigation.
-
From initial property assessment through final report delivery, we understand the deadlines, documentation standards, and level of detail litigation demands, including large-scale, multi-property matters across JCCP-consolidated litigation.
